Sorry folks, I ran out of time this week to record and upload a video Bible Study. So, I will take the time to remind you of a challenge I issued at the end of Sunday's message. Here's the gist of it...
"Jesus ended the story of the Good Samaritan with a challenge. He asked the lawyer who had been cross-examining him, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." (Luke 10:36-37) Here is my challenge to you. I want you to do something scandalous this week. Something unexpected. Something extraordinary. Find someone who needs God’s love. Look for someone to whom you wouldn’t normally even give the time of day. Someone with whom you disagree. Someone not like you. Now, humble yourself. Make a sacrifice. Time, money, whatever. Show that person the love of Jesus. I dare you. Let’s love God by loving others. I've heard a couple of stories this week. For example, someone gave a ride to a couple without transportation so they could pay their electric bill. He won't get anything in return. They won't pay him for his gas or his time. He simply showed them the love of Jesus by helping them out in a time of need. Jesus once said, "And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward." (Matthew 10:42) You may think a cup of cold water is no big deal. To the Lord, it is evidence of Christian love. Have you had any opportunities? There's still time this week to accept the challenge! "Go and do likewise!" |
